Original Title: Boot Partition questionsI've had some issues trying to upgrade my OS from 7 to 10, and I'm starting to wonder if the problem might be in the Boot partition of Windows. For a while I was dual booting the system, with a setup that involved both the Linux Grub bootloader and a modificationto the BCD (I had trouble making them work together at first). Anyways as part of prep for upgrading to 10 I got rid of the Linux partitions of the disk, and used my origional instalation disk to rebuild the boot, but I'm still seeing the BCD prompt for multipleOS's, and did so even after the upgrade so I'm wondering if that might explain the error Inaccessable boot device Error C1900101.If so, what is my best course of action? I'd guess it would be to delete the boot partition and use my old windows instalation disk to remake it, but I'd rather have confirmation before comitting to that action.Thank you.

Your reply is most important for us to ensure we assist you accordingly.Thank you. Ok, tried the RebuildBcd, the response was'Successfully scanned Windows installations.Total identified Windows installations: 0The opperation completed successfully.' This feels a bit off to me, plus when my pc booted up it once again first went through the Windows Boot Manager asking me to choose my opperating system.I should note that earlier I also used the FixMbr and FixBoot commands after deleting the partitions with the Linux OS to let my PC boot directly to windows. I'll note that when looking in the Z boot partitionthe folder NST seems to still contain some Linux boot files so I'm wondering if I should try to erase the entire boot partitionand remake it with FixBoot or FixMbr, or if there's a different approach I should be considering. Please.Your best option is to do the vastly superior making sure to delete all partitions on the drive to get it cleanest and avoid a disk junkyard. If GRUB was on the drive I'd also runOtherwise the RebuildBCD commands are more likely to complete if you first Export the BCD using the full command script from- I am a volunteer and not Microsoft.

What I'd do is unplug all other drives toto the chosen hard drive, making sure to delete all partitions down to Unallocated Space during the booted Custom Install, then click Next to autoformat and begin install. When plugging back in the other drives make sure the Windows drive remains set first to boot in BIOS Setup.Mark any other Active partition Inactive since only the System partition should be Active.:I'd also delete off of Disk1 the old System Reserved partition and repartition it in Disk Mgmt.

The correct way to delete an old OS is to delete all of its old partitions in Disk Mgmt or using a boot disk, if necessary marking Inactive first.- I am a volunteer and not Microsoft.
